Life is Beautiful 2017
"Does anybody wanna go to LiB?Lehrick & I are looking for a 3rd person to, not only buy the 3-day pass, but also make bad decisions w us Hmu" - @rvdassness 7:10 PM - 25 Aug 2017
Since Coachella didn't happen this year, I was eager to go to another music festival. Once I saw Chantel tweet this out, I didn't hop onto it immediately. I was extremely hesitant to agree to attend because there were so many logistical obstacles in the way. Flights were expensive and I was already planning to visit LA the following weekend, which I had already requested work off for. Vegas makes my knees wobble at every thought since it is still foreign to me. Plus, this would be the first festival without my normal group.
There were so many anxieties about the idea of this festival, would it even be worth it?
Oh fuck yes it was.

Just north of the Las Vegas Strip, Life is Beautiful is hosted in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas. Streets were blocked off and iconic areas such as container park, were used as the festival grounds. Basically, a gigantic block party with multiple stages and art installations, LiB stands out as their own powerhouse of a entertainment festival. I wish I had explored more than just the music and food but there's never enough time to explore everything. With huge artist performing like Kaskade, Lorde, Chance the Rapper, and a bunch of smaller artists (whom i actually prefer) such as Big Wild, Bearson, Whethan, Vince Staples, and Tycho.
I can paint you a quick picture of how my weekend went down through words, but I'll try to let my photos do most of the talking.
Below are the two people who I spent most of the weekend with, Lehrick AKA Leeroc and Chantel AKA Teezy. I've attended a Soulection show with them previously in college and the biggest takeaway from that show were the good vibes they brought. Cant lie, I had my anxieties going into the weekend, especially because it had been well over a year since I last saw both of them. I was still mad excited but my pre festival jitters were still present.
Guaranteed you won't find a better group of friends to go with to a festival. It amazed all three of us that we were all on the same page in terms of logistical planning, food, and drinks. Including the Makers Mark and kool-aid, good call Leeroc. Even our sleeping schedules matched up! Extremely grateful to have gone with these guys cause the experiences and memories made were more fun with these guys by my side.
Of course I didn't just stick by these guys the entire weekend. Connie and Mitch showed up! (minus Mitch) My expectations from the beginning included seeing Connie for maybe a set but instead ended up hanging out with her for 2/3 days of the entire festival. It was comfortable seeing a familiar face and drinking with her again, cause of course, Connor came out. I can always appreciate a friend like Connie because she is nowhere near camera shy. Here's a few photos that Mitch loved haha
Since I was with Connie for a good amount of time, I got to meet some of the people that came with her. At every festival I always end up meeting a new face and that person gets associated with the festival in my memories. Here's one person that stood out to me: Cindy. It's insane how small the world is because she went to high school with one of my college roommates. You never know who you might cross paths with and it's always mind blowing how small the world can actually be. Here's a photo of her holding a 2 dollar margarita and a matching balloon she stole from McDonalds. I liked the color scheme when I was intoxicated so I had to snap a photo. Probably a weird question to ask but makes for a good photo regardless.
Here are the rest of the photos from the weekend. Most people ask me who I were my favorites from the festival and I have zero pictures of my favorite sets. Since I cant show that, Big Wild, Kaskade, Two Door Cinema Club, Whethan, MGMT, and Space Yacht were my favorites. Especially Space Yacht, practically any house music will make me groove for a good time.
All photos shot on Canon ELPHT and from APS film format.
